Chapter 1 -



"Guess who!" cried a voice far too loud and chirpy for half past eight on a Monday morning, not to mention on the last week of the school year. Two hand were gently clasped over your eyes, blocking most of  the view of your schools long hallway. You jumped back, surprised, putting your hands on your locker to support yourself from falling backwards.

"Kaito," you snapped back. You didn't actually mean to snap, but you were still tired.  He really couldn't blame you, he had kept you up all night texting, so he laughed it off and pulled away his hands. Light flooded back to your eyes and you turned to face him.

"Sorry" You muttered, letting your eyes fall down to the ground.

Kaito shrugged back as if to say "It's Okay," and gently clasped his large, view-blocking  hands around the back of your head, using his thumbs to tilt your face to make you look at him. His blue eyes sparkled down on you and his cocky smile made you blush. Slowly he began to pull your face closer to his own.  His lips lightly brushed against yours as he pulled you into a passionate kiss.
Life seriously had gotten better over the past school year. Not only was the hottest, cutest, most popular boy in school your new boyfriend, you had finally regained your confidence to sing on stage. You couldn't imagine how it could get any better.

A loud cough pulls your attention away from your boyfriend and you parted his lips away from yours. You let your gaze drift over to see the intruder. Standing a little away from you was your best friend since primary school and his twin sister. Len was blushing to have walked  in on you two, but Rin, who was the one who had actually coughed,  just stood there with a disapproving look on her face.  

"You really should stop sucking each other's faces of in the middle of the hallway! It's disgusting! And some people really don't want to have to stare at you two freaks making out  as they try to get past you!" It seemed that Rin, who was normally friendly, had gotten just about the same amount of sleep as you did.

"Sorry,"  Kaito muttered. He gently removed him hands and took a step back. You had always been surprised at the way that Rin could get Kaito to do what she wanted so easily. He was two years older than Rin, Len and yourself but you guessed it was because of how violent she was. There was never a day where Len didn't have a new bruise or cut because she gotten too involved in a video game. Not to mention the day where she 'just had a little accident with her dads new road roller'. Poor Len.

"Kaito, Katio, Katio!"

"Kaito-nii"

"Yo! Kaito!"

Miku, Luka and Meiko shouted as they turned, hunting for your boyfriend. As she finally spotted him, Miku came bounding up to him from behind and wrapped her pale, thin arms around his waist. You moved forward, about to retort to Miku about the way she cuddled up to your boyfriend, but a hand grabbing your wrist stooped you short of shouting.  Looking back, you saw Len shake his head a pained look in his eye. He slowly let go of your arm and you understood why he didn't want you to pick a fight with Miku.

You had once been a part of that friend group. It was just the seven of you against the world. Then everyone got popular. The problem was, you didn't. Miku made sure of that. She hurt your pride and damaged your self esteem. She's the reason couldn't get the courage to sing. Eventually she pushed you away from your friends and didn't let you sit with the six of them ever again. No one had ever figured out how she had changed so rapidly. It had just happened and you were the victim, but Len couldn't bear to see you alone, depressed and upset. So He defied Miku's 'orders' to stay away from you. To be honest, you wished he didn't. Miku made sure he was punished. He was covered in cuts and burses for the next two weeks, not to mention a broken arm,  and if Rin hadn't stepped in, you were sure Miku's goons could have ended his young life.  You understood far too well why Len was stopping you.

"We have something to show you." Luka said her voice almost monotone.

Compared to Miku, Luka was all right. She never really did anything to hurt you. The thing was, she never did anything to stop the others form hurting you. The others had dragged her down and had sucked out her soul. She seemed slightly lifeless, but she must enjoy their company. Why else would she even stay?

Meiko was another story all together. She hadn't really bullied you as such, but the fact that she was one of the strongest fighters in school - even stronger than Rin - and the fact she had a thing for your boyfriend automatically made you stay away. 'The Red Zone' was the schools nickname for her. If you got on her bad side, there was no going back to the light.

"Come on! Come on!"  Miku pulled at Kaito's arm. Just before the four turned round the corner, you could swear Miku sent you the dirtiest look you had ever seen , and you had seen some very dirty looks.

"We should be moving too. Class will start soon." Rin began walking ahead in the opposite direction of Miku and Company, and reluctantly you and Len followed her.

"I hope Kaito will be okay," You mutter "I don't want what happened to us happening to him. He wouldn't be able to take it."

"Relax." Len sighed, he was a little too uninterested for your liking. "He is popular and friends with Miku. He'll be fine"

"I guess your right" You muttered as the bell rang and you both made your way to your first class.
